A selector device for multispeed gearboxes, having longitudinally lying selector rods (05) which can be rotated in order to select the selector slot and can be displaced in the longitudinal direction in order to engage the gears, and having selector forks which can be displaced in the longitudinal direction and serve to engage the gears within the selector slot. In order also to make the selector device suitable for multispeed gears of an extremely compact type of construction, with the greatest possible degree of smooth-running and a reliable interlock, the selector fingers (16, 17, 18, 19) are connected fixedly to the selector rod (05), and the selector forks (8, 10, 12, 14) are mounted displaceably on a guide rod (04, 06), and the selector forks (8, 10, 12, 14) exhibit extension arms (41) with drivers (21, 42, 45, 47), which are in positively locking connection with the corresponding selector fingers (16, 17, 18, 19) if the selector rod (05) is located in the angular position corresponding to the respective selector fork (8, 10, 12, 14). <IMAGE>
