The invention relates to a mobile appliance with a vehicle and with a plate-brush device (2) with at least one plate brush (8) drivable in rotation about an approximately vertical axis and preferably arranged as a mounted appliance in the front region of the vehicle, primarily equipped with bristles (10) or bristle bundles intended for the elimination of weeds or the like and consisting of spring steel or of resistant materials which are comparable within the scope of this use, which plate brush (8) is connected in transmission terms to a power take-off shaft of the vehicle and is pivotable in a controlled manner, at least transversely relative to the direction of travel of the vehicle, via an approximately vertically directed axle device (18). In order to make an appliance of this type movable in such a way that it can cover a large angular sector from the middle position towards both sides, it is proposed, according to the invention, that the transmission connection between the power take-off shaft and the axle (9) of the plate brush (8) comprise a direction-deflecting gear (3) with an approximately horizontal input axle (20), an approximately horizontal output axle (19) and an approximately vertical intermediate axle (25), about which latter the pivoting movement of the plate-brush device (2) takes place. <IMAGE>
