The current density-voltage plot of the film has: a first nonlinear region (2) where current increases with applied voltage to a max; a second nonlinear region (3) of negative differential resistance leading to a current min. at and beyond which a third region (5) is reached from where the rapid decrease of applied voltage causes current to decrease linearly with voltage; and a fourth region (1a) where increase of voltage across a threshold value (X) causes a rapid transition of current from a linear region (1) the first non-linear region (2). |
