A pressure sensor bridge circuit (1) is driven by a constant current source (2). The bridge circuit is connected via an instrumentation amplifier (3) and drift correction amplifier to a signal processor (6) input. The signal processor (6) has an external EEPROM (7) containing control and measurement programs. A temperature sensor diode (8) is positioned remotely from the sensor (1). When ambient temperature measured by the sensor (8) is within operating limits for measurement, power from batteries (9) is applied to measurement chain on demand from the measurement program for the duration of measurement acquisition and displayed on an LCD display (10).
