PURPOSE:To discrimintate rapidly a faulty unit by discriminating information between units through a data channel at every fetch control factor and recording effectively information required and sufficient for fault cause search by a small- capacity unit. CONSTITUTION:When the instruction of an I/O operation is given to data channel 3 from CPU 1, channel 3 takes out a device address word and a channel command word from main memory 2 and starts I/O device 4 to cause I/O device 4 to perform data transfer, completion reporting, etc., and stores the result in memory 2 and reports it to CPU 1. Here, recording control mechanism 5 takes in control information between CPU 1, memory 2, channel 3 and device 4 accompanied with the I/O operation through channel 3 and discriminates a faulty unit at every occurrence of a control factor. As a result, information required and sufficient for fault cause search can be recorded effectively in a small-capacity storage unit, and discrimination can be performed rapidly. |
