1329422 Gas discharge display panels BURROUGHS CORP 17 Nov 1970 [1 Dec 1969] 54549/70 Heading H1D The anodes 80 and cathode 128 of the auxiliary starter or particle supply cells 52 in a display panel as described in Specification 1,317,221 are more closely spaced than the anodes 80 and cathodes 100 of the display cells 50 whereby said auxiliary cells have a lower firing voltage. In the arrangement shown a rectangular tab 180 attached to the cathode 128 of the column of starter cells projects into each starter cell. The tabs may be mounted along the centre line of the cathode as shown or along the edge remote from the display cells 50. The tabs may alternatively be triangular in shape or the cathode strip 128 may be corrugated to provide portions which project into the cells. The cathode strip may be narrower in width adjacent the tabs (Fig. 8, not shown) to provide optimum current density in the region of the slots 120 leading to the display cells. The tabs or projecting portions may alternatively be provided on the anodes 80. One or more keep-alive cells may be provided in communication with the starter cells.
