A conveyor system includes conveyor railcars 1 propelled along a rail 2 by brakeless electric motors 8. Each railcar 1 is provided with first and second switches 19, 20 for cutting off the power to the motor 8. A railcar stopping device, placed alongside the rail 2, can be swung into a position in which it engages the first switch 19 as the railcar 1 passes to cut off the power to the motor 8. The railcar 1 then proceeds under its own momentum until a stop 22 provided on the railcar 1 engages a part of the stopping device. The stopping device can be swung out of engagement with the first switch 19 to allow the railcar 1 to proceed. The second switch 20 is activated when it engages a trailing arm 23 of a preceding railcar 1. This occurs before the two railcars 1 collide. <IMAGE> |
