PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal recording material excellent in thermal response and the storage stability of the background part and image part thereof by providing a thermal recording layer containing a dye precursor and a specific salicylic acid derivative or a metal salt thereof on a support. CONSTITUTION:A coating soln. based on a usually colorless or light-colored dye precursor and a salicylic derivative represented by formula (wherein X1 and X2 are a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an aralkyl group, an aryl group or a halogen atom and R is an alkyl group, an alkenyl group, an aralkyl group or an aryl group) or a metal salt thereof being an electron acceptive compd. and further having one of 2-benzyloxynaphthalene and 4-benzylbiphenyl and a 18 or more C aliphatic amide compd. dissolved or dispersed therein is prepared This coating soln. is applied to a support such as paper, synthetic paper or a plastic film and dried to form a thermal precording layer to obtain a thermal recording material. |
