PURPOSE:To perform a process for desorbing an adsorbent adsorbing nitrogen oxide with a smaller quantity of heat. CONSTITUTION:An adsorbent is housed in an adsorbent housing space 26 in an adsorbent housing chamber 16. In an adsorption process, waste gas is passed through the adsorbent to adsorb nitrogen oxide in the waste gas. In a desorption process, after the adsorbent housing space 26 is separated from other spaces of the adsorbent housing chamber 16, heating gas is passed through the adsorbent to heat it, allowing nitrogen oxide to be desorbed from the adsorbent.
