PURPOSE:To reduce reactive currents to increase luminous efficacy in a surface discharge type gas discharge display panel. CONSTITUTION:Plural address electrodes 18 are arranged in parallel on a back surface plate 10 to provide a lower part dielectric 20 on these sustaining electrodes 18. Moreover sustaining electrodes 14 and 16 are adopted as a pair of electrode pairs T, and the electrode pairs T of plural pairs are arranged in parallel on the lower part dielectric 20. An upper part dielectric 22, a protective film 24, and a barrier rib 26 are provided in order on these electrodes 14 and 16. While a phosphor 30 and a barrier rib 28 are provided on a front surface plate 12. Capacity formed in a thickness direction by the lower part dielectric 20 can be made smaller than that formed between the sustaining electrodes 14 and 16 by the upper part dielectric 22 by increasing the thickness of the lower part dielectric 20 more than that of the upper part dielectric 22. |
