摘要 PURPOSE:To compensate for a dead time caused by a distance between a calender roll and a thickness sensor. CONSTITUTION:This automatic thickness control device is composed of a gap compensation device 13 which turns a deviation between thickness signals c1, c2 detected by thickness sensors 9a, 9b and a thickness setting signal (a) set previously to a gap signal between calender rolls 1a, 1b, and at the same time, compensates for electric and mechanical delay based on material quality, rolling and environmental conditions. Thus the gap signal is compensated for by compensation signals d1, d2 connected by a gap compensation device 13. Further, bank variations can be compensated for by adding data on the status of rolling load as rolling conditions. The status of rolling load can be interpreted even by the electric current of a drive motor in addition to by load cells 10a, 10b. Consequently, it is possible to make a rapid response when changing a set thickness, then prevent the thickness during the speed change from varying, and further, prevent the thickness from varying due to the bank variations.
