The centre of the addendum arc is spaced radially inwardly of the pitch circle and the dedendum is a straight line tangential to the addendum. Having regard to the fact that the ratio of driving to driven moment has a minimum (3) between the roll centre (2) and the contact end point (4), the inward spacing of the addendum centre and the radius of the addendum are so chosen that this ratio is equal to the minimum at the commencement (1) of contact, and is the same at the roll centre and the contact end point. The form is especially for use in gears used on clock stop-up transmissions.
