PURPOSE:To record and reproduce the copyright protection signal which is used in the soft tape of an analog VTR by a digital VTR of a compression system. CONSTITUTION:When a copyright protection signal detection circuit 19 detects the disturbance signal inserted in a video signal, the output of an A/D converter 16 is stored in a memory 17. An H counter circuit 21 defines the line number when the disturbance signal exists as LINE data and the data is imparted to a line pack processing microcomputer 23. The data of the memory 17 is imparted as line data to the line pack processing microcomputer 23, being switched in a switching circuit 22. The line pack processing microcomputer 23 generates pack data by using these and transmits the data to the format converter of a digital VTR.
