Corks, pref. natural, are treated to reduce their friction against dry bottle necks by coating with a thin layer of taste-free, odourless wax disperse in a similar, e.g. paraffin, oil, which is preferably applied by drum-tumbling the corks with porous bodies of viscose or polyurethane foam which are wear-and oil-resistant and are impregnated with mixture. Specifically, a polyethylene wax is used. |
