An internal square thread, single, double or multiple, is carried on the inner face of a hollow drive shaft extending out of the pressure vessel to a height which will accommodate the control rod when withdrawn. a cross-shaped saddle running on fixed guide rods carries rollers which run in the thread and is fixed to the end of the control prod. Independent motors with appropriate gearing and automatic clutch for the control motor, are used both for emergency shut-down and for fine adjustment. |
