PURPOSE: To inspect an outside diameter of a glass bottle by turing beams of light downward so that a peripheral part of parallel beams of light separates from a peripheral part of a vessel when the vessel exists in an inspection position, looking the contour of a vertical projected image of the vessel in the axial direction by a two-dimensional camera, and picture processing and evaluating an image of a peripheral part of projection. CONSTITUTION: A conveyor 10 continuously moves, and carries a vessel 12 to an inspection position. Then, a parallel light 16 by paralleling the light of a flash tube 18 by a Fresnel lens 20 is irradiated. Its footprint forms an annular band of the light around the vessel 12. A two-dimensional camera 30 turning vertically upward reflects the contour of a vertical projected image of the vessel 12 through a diffuser plate 28, and looks at the footprint of the parallel light 16. An image sensed by the camera 30 is evaluated by a picture processing computer 32. The computer 32 evaluates a peripheral part (the contour, a peripheral field, the outer edge and an edge part) of an image of the vessel 12, and judges the existence of unallowable dislocation from a fin and its other circular shape on the vessel 12, and reject its vessel 12 when a defect is found. |
