A device for fitting a wash hand basin consists of a hollow pedestal (2) placed on the ground, supporting the wash hand basin (1) and exhibiting an opening (5) at the back, into which two or three tensioning cords (11) pass which leave two or three fastening points (14) of the wash hand basin (1) and which extend downwards so as to be fastened to a fastening device (9) connected to an anchoring point (6, 7) in the ground via a tightening device (8, 10) and which allows compensation for the lengths by equal distribution of the tensile forces between the tensioning cords (11). <IMAGE>
