DATA RETRIEVING METHOD AND DATA RETRIEVING DEVICE

PURPOSE:To dissolve a retrieving error by running a magnetic tape in the reverse direction to a retrieving direction at first and running the tape in the retrieving direction after the tape is reversely moved to a position from where the magnetic tape can be moved with a stable speed. CONSTITUTION:A preliminary operation commanding signal generator 7 analyzes a retrieving command in accordance with a retrieving starting command from a terminal 4 to recognize a retrieving direction. After then, the signal generator 7 commands to a control signal generator 6 so as to run the tape in the reverse direction with the retrieving direction. A running system mechanism 2 allows the tape to run based on the command. The signal generator 7 declares the completion of the preliminary operation after the tape is moved for a prescribed section and commands the braking of the tape and the running to the retrieving direction to the running mechanism 2. The signal generator 7 initializes a counter 5 and makes the counter 5 stop a counting operation before the tape is moved to a retrieving starting position of its own. When the tape is moved to the retrieving starting position, the signal generator 7 commands to the running mechanism 2 so as to keep the running operation and allows the counter 5 to start the counting operation.
