PURPOSE:To allow the driver to recognize drive guidance of a vehicle and a status at the outside of the vehicle in a realistic stereoscopic sense and sense of distance by observing each picture of left and right visual point resulting from a synthesis picture displayed separately on a screen with slit barrier so as to observe the picture as a stereoscopic picture. CONSTITUTION:Left right visual point picture data picked up by a video camera 6 are given to a picture processing unit 7, in which picture processing such as contrast emphasis and edge emphasis is applied to the data, the left right visual point picture data LID, RID are given from a microcomputer 5 to a picture synthesizer 1, where the data are synthesized. The synthesized picture is displayed on a screen of a display device 2 and the displayed synthesized picture is separately displayed into the left and right visual point pictures by means of a slit barrier 23 in front of the screen. Then a stereoscopic picture is observed by observing the separated pictures. Thus, the driver recognizes drive guidance of a vehicle and a status at the outside of the vehicle in a realistic stereoscopic sense and sense of distance. |
