Title cpds. of formula (ROCS2)nMXmLp x (where M = gp. IV-VII transition metal, R = 1-30C hydrocarbyl, X = H, F, Cl, Br, I, ClO4, BrO3, IO3, CN, SCN, SO4, S2O3, NO3 or NO2,R' or OR',R' = =30C (cyclo) alkyl, aralkyl or aryl; L= Lewis base; n, m and p each = 1-3; n + m = M's valence, x = 1,2,3 or 4) are prepd. by reacting in the presence of a Lewis base a transition metal xanthate with MXq or hkX (where q = M's valence k = X's valence) or a xanthic acid, salt or ester with MXq. The cpds. are catalysts e.g. for dimerisations polymerisations and hydrogenations. |
