PURPOSE:To surely identify forged paper money using a magnetic tape or the like by arranging magnetic detection sensors and optical sensors on front and back positions in the same line as the carrying direction of paper money. CONSTITUTION:When paper money is inserted into a carrying passage, its magnetic printing part is detected by magnetic detection sensors 7L, 7R and its color printing part is detected by optical sensors 8L, 8R. If forged paper money formed by copying true paper money by color copying machine and sticking a magnetic tape including iron powder or the like to a position corresponding to a magnetic printing part on the true paper money is inserted into the carrying passage to use it illegally, a magnetic detection signal similar to that of true paper money is obtained by the sensors 7L, 7R, but when the part to which the magnetic tape is stuck reaches the positions of the sensors 8L, 8R, the transmission efficiency/reflected light rate of the part is sharply different from that of the true paper money, so that the forged paper money to which the magnetic tape is stuck can be surely identified. |
