PURPOSE:To obtain vivid image quality at a low cost without necessitating strict gap accuracy by providing a conductive elastic layer around a cylindrical shaft and a conductive member provided on the elastic layer and connected to the shaft. CONSTITUTION:The conductive member 9 is provided on the inside or the surface part of the elastic layer 4 and further connected to the shaft 3. Therefore, bias voltage impressed on the shaft 3 is efficiently impressed on the surface of a developing roller 2 through the member 9. Since the elastic layer 4 has insulating property to some extent even though it is made conductive, it is effective to interpose the member 9 in the elastic layer in order to make the specific resistance of the roller 2 smaller. By making the member 9 into a mesh state, the member 9 is easily deformed, so that the surface hardness of the elastic layer 4 is prevented from getting high and the surface of an image carrier is prevented from being damaged. |
