PURPOSE:To perform various measurements with good accuracy in a simple constitution by a method wherein one pair of electrodes which are installed on the upstream side and the downstream side and which are composed of a conductive material are kept at the same potential and they are used as counter electrodes. CONSTITUTION:One cell is provided with a reference electrode and a working electrode as one pair, and one or more additional cells on and to which additional working electrodes have been mounted and attached are connected. Then, one pair of electrodes which are composed of a conductive material are installed on the upstream side and the downstream side of all the working electrodes, they are set at the same potential, and they are used as counter electrodes. For example, cells 9, 10 are connected by a coupling part 7, and conductive faces of four electrodes 1 to 4 are arranged so as to face a flow passage 8. The electrode 1 is formed as a silver-silver chloride reference electrode, the electrodes 2 to 4 are formed as platinum working electrodes, and stainless-steel piping components are attached to the entrance and the exist of a measuring part so as to be used as counter electrodes 5, 6. In this case, the sensitivity of the working electrodes is increased to three times thanks to the three electrodes. When a number of working electrodes are arranged as required, the required sensitivity is obtained. Then, the metal pipes on the most upstream side and the most downstream side are used as the counter electrodes, a base current value can be measured stably and with high accuracy. |
