PURPOSE:To provide a communication connecting device capable of automatically setting the state of a video equipment to be a state appropriate for receiving a video signal sent by way of a communication line. CONSTITUTION:When a call with the video signal incomes by way of the communication line, a video signal for a test from a generation part 4 is provided for the video equipment by way of a video output terminal 6. A video signal presence/absence detection part 12 detects the presence/absence of the video signal from the video equipment, which is inputted by way of a video input terminal 7. A video signal coincidence detection part 13 detects whether the video signal for a test from the generation part 4 and the video signal from the video input terminal 7 are the same or not. An operation state discrimination part 15 discriminates the operation state of the video equipment from the detection outputs of the video signal presence/absence detection part 12 and the video signal coincidence detection part 13. A control part 16 makes a remote control signal generated from a remote control transmission part to the video equipment based on the discrimination output of the operation state discrimination part and sets the state of the video equipment to be capable of properly receiving the video signal.
