Self-supporting beam which is extremely lightweight with respect to its load capability, consisting of the assembly of modules, comprising a tubular base, stiffened in vertical and horizontal planes by triangulation by means of taut cables. Fastening takes place using simple anchors at each end. End modules including length-adjustable reversible slideways allow a self-supporting beam to be installed regardless of the spacing between anchoring points. The tubular base forming the beam has studs for attaching members to be supported: cables, pipes, machine elements, ceilings, curtain walls. The end modules forming double brackets allow beams to be joined together in pairs in three perpendicular directions. <IMAGE>
