Friction gearing for moving a work-shaft 9 axially comprises inclined rollers 11, 12 attached to a hollow rotor-shaft 4 and rollers 15, 16 attached to a stator casing 1 and aligned with the axis of shaft 9. In a modification, a shaft 9 is given a helical motion by inclined rollers 11a, 12a, Fig. 2, attached to a stator casing 1 and axially aligned rollers 14a, 15a attached to a rotor shaft 4. In a further modification, rollers 11a 11b, 12a and 12b are rotatably mounted on pivotable members 29, 30, 28, 31, respectively, which terminate in ball ends 32. Adjacent the rollers, the members 28 ... 31 are supported by two radially acting spring-pressed bushes 19, 21 and two adjustable bushes 18, 20. The ball ends 32 engage recesses 33 in a ring 34 which is rotatable in order to vary the angle of inclination of the rollers. |
