The invention relates to a vehicle body having a frame which is manufactured from light alloy, preferably aluminium, and is formed from individual frame parts which are constructed as extruded profiles and are connected to one another, and having shaped, preferably deep-drawn shell panels, in particular made of aluminium sheet, which are connected to the frame and at least substantially form the shell of the body, as well as to a method for its production. In order to make it possible to reduce weight, an external wall portion, running parallel to the shell of the body, of an outer side of an exposed frame limb directly forms the shell of the body, the spherical shaping of this wall portion corresponding to the profile of the shell of the body in this region. At the edge of the external wall portion, the shell panel is arranged flush with respect to the shell of the body and connected in a sealing manner thereto.
