Fluorine-passivated chromatographic systems

Chromatographic systems, in which at least one metal-containing surface is in contact with an analytical sample, are brought into contact with fluorine for a particular time and under reaction conditions which are effective in reducing the chemical reactivity of the surface relative to the sample. Preferably, the metal is nickel and contact is carried out for approximately 1 to 10 minutes in an inert atmosphere such as, for example, argon, at a temperature above 300 DEG C.
