A device is proposed for draining off liquids under pressure from closed containers (35), in particular fuel from fuel filters in motor vehicles. A holding device (10) which can be fixed detachably to the container (35) has a drain channel (24) which, in the fixed condition, opens essentially at right angles to the container outer wall. To catch the fluid to be drained off, a drain container is provided which is connected to the drain channel (24), at least during the draining off. A tool which penetrates the container outer wall or breaks through the outer wall with rotary movement is arranged in the drain channel (24) or is designed to be movable through the latter towards the container outer wall. As a result, the liquid under pressure can be caught in the drain container essentially completely and thus in an environmentally friendly manner, the container under pressure not needing to have a drain opening from the start and being able to have its contents disposed of in the assembled condition. <IMAGE>
