PROCESS FOR PRODUCING POLYOLEFINE FIBRES

A process is disclosed for producing polyolefine fibres, in particular thermobondable fibres to be processed into nonwoven fabrics. The polyolefines are melted in at least one extruder, the molten polyolefines are pressed through spinning nozzles so as to produce fibres and the fibres are further processed in a manner known per se. The process is characterised in that part of the polyolefines is melted in a main extruder and another part of the polyolefines is melted in at least one side stream extruder and chemically or thermally processed in an appropriate manner to produce a higher proportion of short-chain polyolefines that is added to the polyolefines melted in the main extruder. Also disclosed is a device for carrying out the process.
