The invention relates to a pressure-compensated solenoid valve for controlling the passage through a connecting line between a high pressure side, which is connected to a fuel injection nozzle, and a low pressure side, in particular between a pump working space of a fuel injection pump and a low pressure space. The solenoid valve has a multi-part valve housing which contains a portion of a feed line on the high pressure side and has a stepped guide bore in which, as valve-closing element, a stepped control slide valve, which has a flat armature, of an electromagnet can be displaced counter to the force of a restoring spring. There is a cross-bore in the control slide valve, the slide parts of which, which in terms of diameter are of different sizes, are guided in correspondingly matched stepped bore parts in the guide bore, the end side of the enlarged slide part, which contains the axial bore, forming a flat valve seat together with the planar bearing face of a housing part in which a line portion on the high pressure side runs coaxially with respect to the axial bore, and pressure shoulders, which are formed by transitions between the two slide parts and stepped bore parts, delimiting an annular space into which the cross-bore opens.
