An airway monitoring adapter that includes a conduit for receiving a first catheter, a conduit having exterior threads located on an outer wall thereof, and communicating with the interior of the adapter, guide means within the interior of the adapter for directing a second catheter towards the center of the adapter, and a collar having interior threads that mate with the exterior threads on the conduit, and for housing a compression slug, so that tightening of the threaded collar is capable of sealing and anchoring the second catheter therein is provided. In addition, a process for monitoring distally of tracheal tube in a patient is provided. The monitoring adapter can be connected to a suction catheter. |
