A plate roll comprising two stationary lower rolls (2) situated next to one another and being rotary arranged and above and between these is situated an upper roll (4) which can be displaced towards and away from the lower rolls. The plate roll has a pre-bending tool in the form of two pre-bending beams. The roll is constructed about two gables of individual heavy steel plates and in which a heavy lower bar (6) is arranged. The pre-bending beam (8) is detachably hinged on the upper edge of the lower bar and can be lifted off by a lifting unit (16) which simultaneously can tilt the pre-bending beam to abutment with one or the other lower roll. As the construction offers a clear picture of the forces, the construction can be optimized and the lower frame may be avoided, this frame previously being a necessary power absorbing feature; at the same time the lower bar yields a significant contribution to the strength resource of the pre-bending beam. Special embodiments of the roll can also be used as a bending machine, profile roll as well as rolling or bending of truncated cones.
