Device for precipitating liquid drops from a gaseous flow

In prior art devices of this kind, the droplets are separated by virtue of their inertia on the walls of the ducts to form a film of liquid which, in vertical-flow separators, runs downwards and then drips off. If the flow rate is too high, these drips can be entrained in the gas flow again. The invention proposes that the cross-section of the ducts is larger in the zone where the gas flow changes direction than before or after this zone, the cross-section before the direction-change zone being greater than after this zone and the radius of curvature of the direction-change zone along the internal flow path being in accordance with the condition (A). The invention is suitable for use in industrial droplet separators.
