<p>A method for the treatement of biochemical damage or a medical disorder associated with free radical formation in a patient comprises administering to the patient an effective amount of a bile alcohol or a derivative thereof, particularly 5β-scymnol, 5β-scymnol sulphate, 5α-cyprinol or 5α-cyprinol sulphate. The invention includes treatment of photodamage to the skin and/or hair of a patient associated with free radical formation resulting from UV irradiation as well as treatment of inflammatory disorders or conditions of the skin. Compositions, including topical compositions, are also included.</p> |
