Device (1) for individualising sheet-like material, having a support plate (2) for a stack (3) of sheets (4). A lifting element (17) separates the sheets (4) from the stack (3) one after another, and a feeder (27) feeds the sheets (4) one after another, previously lifted by the lifting element (17). The lifting element (17) comprises at least one suction nozzle (18) which can be moved between a lowered position, in which the sheets (4) are seized, and a lifted position, in which the sheets (4) are released by said suction nozzle (18). This nozzle is connected to a suction unit (15) by means of an automatic releasing mechanism which comprises a line (23) which can be displaced between a working position, in which it connects the nozzle (18) to the suction unit (15) and a release position in which it forms at least one opening (32) which produces the communication of the interior of the line (23) to the environment. <IMAGE>
