The invention relates to a swash-plate engine (10) with a hollow-sphere-shaped working chamber (16) which is subdivided by a partition wall (18) into at least one delivery chamber (23) and an intake chamber (24) into which the working medium can be fed by way of a conduit system, which partition wall (18) reaches as far as a piston carrier (26), with an annular piston (20) which is adapted to the diameter of the working chamber (18) and is connected to the exterior by a mounted drive shaft (28) which effects an oscillation movement of the piston (20), the latter exhibiting at least one radial slit (30) which extends from the circumference approximately as far as the piston carrier (26) and in which there is inserted a guide pin (32) which interacts with the partition wall (18), and a piston (20) tapering outwards towards the circumference. The end surfaces (23, 24) of the piston (20) are in contact with opposite side surfaces which run perpendicularly with respect to the axis of rotation of the drive shaft (28) and bound the working chamber (18) laterally, the piston (20) being provided on at least one of its piston surfaces with grooves (36) which are bounded by blade-like webs (38). <IMAGE>
