The invention relates to a vertical conveyor for rod bundles and is assigned to the tying machines in small-section and medium-section steel rolling mills. The problem on which the invention is based is to develop a device which bundles bundles of different shapes and which can bring the bundles into a tying position and transport away the tied bundles in the longitudinal direction in relation to the device. The problem is solved in that two or more pillars (1) fastened in succession in a basic frame (3) each receive a horizontally movable lifting frame (2), on which a bundling lever (5) with a chain (6) and a lever system (11, 12, 13) forming a parallelogram and having an integrated lifting beam (4) are arranged. <IMAGE>
