A method and apparatus for direct in-line injection of solid particulate compositions into conventional spraying systems, the apparatus including a screw (18) designed to meter and reduce the particle size of the composition as it is transported from an inlet (14) to an exit (13) in the apparatus, the screw (18) characterized by a constant depth portion adjacent to the inlet, air-tight seals at both the inlet and outlet end of the screw, and means for adjusting the longitudinal position of the screw.
