A method for rolling stock having a circular cross-section of predetermined precise final dimensions in a rolling-stand group which is arranged on the exit side of a rolling train and comprises horizontal, vertical and horizontal two-high rolling stands which are arranged close together, one behind the other and can be set to fixed positions. In the method, which involves a pass reduction of between 14% and 28% within the two first rolling stands (1, 2), the rolling speed of the said stands is chosen so that only slight tension occurs. In the case where a pass reduction of 1% - 5% in the last rolling stand (3) is set, the power of the drive of this rolling stand (3) is subjected to limiting control in such a way that the cross-section of the rolling stock does not undergo any reduction between this stand and the preceding stand.
