PURPOSE:To obtain a dehydrogenating catalyst having high activity and selectivity by using a carrier selected from oxides and hydroxides of aluminum, silicon, titanium, zirconium, magnesium and iron, zeolite and silica-alumina and specifying the atomic ratio of the catalyst. CONSTITUTION:A carrier is selected from a group consisting of oxides and hydroxides of aluminum, silicon, titanium, zirconium, magnesium and iron, zeolite and silica-alumina and the atomic ratio of Cu/Fe/Al/(alkali metal and/or alkaline earth metal)/Zr of a catalyst is specified to 1/0.4-2.5/0.5-5.0/0-0.4/0-1.0. In this case, when a substance containing an aluminum atom is used as a carrier, the atomic ratio of the whole of the catalyst including the carrier is calculated. The carrier is suspended in a water-soluble medium to be reacted with a copper salt and an iron salt and, subsequently, water-soluble aluminum is reacted with the reaction solution and an alkali metal salt is mixed with the formed precipitate and the resulting mixture is baked. |
