摘要

Method of making glass composition contg. alkali hydroxides esp. NaOH for making glass contg. both alkali and alkaline earth oxides esp. CaO wherein the alkali hydroxide is prepd. in situ. in part or the whole of the precursor material by reaction of solid alkali carbonate and oxide or hydroxide of alkaline earth by addition of water. Method overcomes the need for large installation of expensive alkali resistant material for supplying solution, and accurate dosing equipment.
