Complete combustion and optimum efficiency of reducing gases and pulverised combustibles for blast furnaces is obtained by imparting turbulence to a current of hot air in a blast conduit, imparting turbulence to a current of O2/enriched air in a burner which extends into the blast conduit, and finally adding pulverulent combustibles which may also be made turbulent to the gases in the burner. This ensures complete combustion behind the tuyere.
