[Also in Division C3] Substrates such as glass, leather, wood, metals, woven and non-woven textiles, paper and cardboard may be coated with polyurethane latices prepared by dispersing a polyurethane in aqueous organic solvents and removing the organic solvent portion. The polyurethane being prepared from polyhydroxyl compounds of M.W. 350 to 10,000, polyisocyanates, alkali metal salts of d-lysine, 1-lysine and/or d, 1-lysine and, if necessary, chain lengthening agents, the alkali metal salts of lysine being used in such a quantity that the polyurethane masses contain from 0.05 to 1% by weight of COO- groups based on the dry polyurethane. The water is removed from the latices by evaporation, if necessary at elevated temperatures or in a vacuum and the polyurethane coating cured by heating. |
