A P.V.C. plastics cladding frame for the external cladding of a metal or wood carrier window frame, comprises lengths of extended profiles containing a cavity 14 closed or substantially closed with drain holes behind the outer weather face with (Figs. 2 and 3) or without (Fig. 1) rabbets on the longitudinal sides, as required and having two spaced inwardly directed lateral tongues 13 adapted to be clamped down on the planar bearing surface of the carrier frame 12 by means of a olamping stud consisting of an annular slidable member 2 with inwardly directed flanges 6 and downwardly inclined external flanges 8, arranged to bear upon the tongues 13 and fixed to the carrier frame by a securing member 1 having annular flange 4 and web 3, the flange 4 bearing upon the flanges 6 when the member 1 is screwed down on the bearing surface of the carrier frame 12, the bore 9 in the member 2 allowing relative movement between the members 1 and 2 and the space between tongues 13 and member 2 allowing relative movement 'between the members 2 and 13 due to varying temperatures and the differences in expansion coefficients of the different materials. As shown an open chamber 15 may be provided behind the closed chamber 14 and grooves 17 are provided for packing material. The cladding forms stops on the carrier frame for the glazing. |
