Oral vaccination of mammals

Oral anti-rabbies vaccines that comprise at least 100 mu g of an isolated rabies glycoprotein G that is produced in eukaryotic cells and methods of immunizing mammals against rabies infection which comprise the step of orally administering to the mammal, such oral anti-rabies vaccine are disclosed. Chimeric proteins are disclosed. Orally active vaccines for immunizing a mammal against a pathogen infection comprising chimeric proteins and methods of using the same are disclosed. Oral anti-pathogen vaccines that comprise at least 100 mu g of an isolated rabies glycoprotein G and either an isolated pathogen antigen or a peptide which comprises a neutralizing epitope of a pathogen antigen and methods of using the same are disclosed.
