A driving device using braking energy of a vehicle as part of energy required to propel the vehicle wherein an air compressor (5) is connected to a propeller shaft (2) so as to be driven when the brakes are applied to the vehicle to thereby store highly pressurized air in air tanks (10, 35) and wherein when driving energy is required as in the case of start and/or acceleration of the vehicle, the highly pressurized air so stored is supplied to the driving device provided on the propeller shaft (2), an air motor (16) provided on an engine (1) or an intake passageway or an exhaust port (33) to thereby effect a quick increase in output without increasing the fuel consumption. |
