APPLICATION OF NONWOVEN FABRIC PATTERNS TO THERMOPLASTIC FILM

PURPOSE:To easily obtain an inexpensive mold by supplying a heated and softened plastic film to a mold equipped with a suction means to allow the same to follow the surface of the air permeable nonwoven fabric like surface of the mold under vacuum to apply the surface patterns of the nonwoven fabric part to the plastic film. CONSTITUTION:A film 1 is supplied to the surface of a rotary drum 3 while heated and softened by an infrared heater 11 to be moved to the area above the suction chamber 10 of the drum 3 and closely brought into contact with the peripheral wall 6 of the drum 3 under vacuum and the surface patterns of the peripheral wall 6 of the drum 3 is applied to the film 1. The film 1 receives cooling air from a cooling fan 12 and the shaped surface patterns are brought to a frozen state. The air permeable peripheral wall 6 of the rotary drum 3 is constituted of a perforated plate 20 and the nonwoven fabric like metal fibers covering the outer surface of the perforated plate 20. A part of the shaft 7 of the drum 3 is formed as a double pipe having vacuum piping 25 and one end thereof is connected to the suction chamber 10. Vacuum pressure is allowed to act on the rotary drum 3 from the inside thereof through the perforated plate 20.
