PURPOSE:To provide an ink feeding device, with which stable ink feeding is carried out and, at the same time, the use efficiency of ink contrives to be improved, and in ink jet recording unit. CONSTITUTION:The interior of an ink tank 2 consists of a main ink chamber 4 and a sub-ink chamber 6, in which an absorbing member 9 is arranged and at the upper part of which an air communicating hole 8 is provided. Firstly, the ink in the sub-ink chamber 6 is consumed. Since the absorbing member 9 is not urged, stable ink pressure is kept by the capillary force of the absorbing member 9 itself until retaining ink is exhausted. After the exhaustion of the ink in the absorbing member 9, an air bubble generating at a meniscus forming member 10 is introduced in the main ink chamber 9, resulting in keeping the ink pressure constant. By a recessed part 15 provided at the periphery of the bottom face of the sub-ink chamber 6, air permeating from the side face of the absorbing member 9 is trapped, resulting in occurring no hindering of the shifting of ink from the sub-ink chamber 6 to the main ink chamber 4 by air and allowing to exhaust the ink in the absorbing member 9. |
