PURPOSE:To obtain a new alpha-resorcylic ester derivative useful as an electron accepting compound for a recording material, having excellent colorability and shelf stability of picture image part. CONSTITUTION:An alpha-resorcylic ester derivative of the formula (R1 is H, halogen or alkyl; X is bifunctional group) such as 1,5-bis(3,5-dihydroxyphenylcarboxy) pentane. The alpha-resorcylic ester derivative of the formula is readily obtained by reacting alpha-resorcylic acid with a dihalide compound or a disulfonate compound in the presence of an deoxidizer or reacting alpha-resorcylic ester or its lower ester with a diol compound in the presence of a catalyst. |
